GUWAHATI, March 26 � Altogether 40 candidates have filed nomination papers for elections to three Lok Sabha seats in the State to be held on April 12.
According to a release from the office of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Assam, 16 candidates have filed nominations for the Karimganj seat, 17 for Silchar seat and seven candidates filed nominations for the Autonomous District seat.
Scrutiny of the nomination papers will be held tomorrow and March 29 will be the last date for withdrawal of nominations.
It may be mentioned here that elections to 14 Lok Sabha seats from the State will be held in three phases on April 7, 12 and 24.
