DIMAPUR, June 20 At least four hardcore cadres belonging to NSCN (Khaplang) and NSCN (Khole-Kitovi) were killed in three separate incidents in Zunheboto and Tuensang districts yesterday.

In the first incident of fresh factional clash that took place in the wee hours at Zhekiye village in Zunheboto district, two cadres of the NSCN-K were reported killed while another sustained serious bullet injuries.

According to Zunheboto police sources, some cadres belonging to the Khaplang faction were taking shelter in a house amidst a paddy field in the village when armed cadres of the rival Khole-Kitovi group attacked them, killing two of them on the spot and injuring one.

The injured cadre is reported to have suffered a bullet injury on the back which exited through the abdomen and has been shifted to Mokokchung for medical treatment.

The gun battle lasted for almost one-and-a-half hours and stopped only after the intervention of the villagers, sources informed.

Police are also reported to have recovered two SLR guns, one from the injured cadre and the other from the slain NSCN-K lieutenant. Police said the arms are in their custody.

In the other two incidents, two cadres belonging to the NSCN (Khole-Kitovi) were kidnapped at gunpoint from their houses and shot dead in what is suspected to be retaliation for the morning attack on the cadres of NSCN-K.

In the first of these two incidents, sources said one Nikheto Sema was reportedly taken from his house early Tuesday morning around 6-7 am by unidentified armed gunmen. His body was later recovered by Zunheboto Police in an area between Shaghemi village and Noltoka at around 1 pm in the afternoon. He was found shot on the head with his eyes blindfolded and his hands tied behind his back, the sources said.

In the second kidnap incident, another cadre of the Khole-Kitovi group, was reportedly abducted from his house and shot dead near Yangli village in Tuensang district.
