GUWAHATI, Oct 16 � Police arrested four persons in connection with the abduction of an Air Force jawan on October 4 from Azara area.
Based on the complaint, the crime branch of City Police conducted operations in Goalpara, Barpeta, Dhubri and West Garo Hills in Meghalaya.
The investigators finally managed to rescue Anand Mohan Das, the Guwahati-base Air Force jawan, from a location in West Garo Hills where he was kept in confinement.
Senior Superintendent of Police (City) AP Tiwari said that the airman was enticed to visit Garo Hills by one of his acquaintances and from there he was abducted and kept in confinement.
�The abductors had demanded Rs 20 lakh from the family members of the victim,� Tiwari said.
During the course of the investigation, Nekibur Zaman, Safikul Islam, Safikul Islam and Faridul Islam were arrested. �They are basically criminal elements and not affiliated with any insurgent groups,� he added.
