IMPHAL, Feb 1: Altogether 4,373 health workers against the target of 7,722 received COVID-19 vaccine shots in Manipur so far, including 386 on Monday.

The healthcare workers were administered Covishield vaccine in three districts – Imphal West, Imphal East and Chandel of the State, officials said. Against the day’s target of 412, a total of 386 were vaccinated on Monday. “The percentage achievement up to today is 56.63 per cent,” stated an official statement.

So far, Imphal West district has the maximum number of healthcare workers (2,458) who received the COVID-19 vaccine shots, while the health workers in some districts are yet to get the shots, as per the official COVID-19 vaccination coverage data.

On January 13, Chief Minister Biren Singh said that the vaccination would be done on priority basis as the State has 39,991 health workers and they will be vaccinated on the first batch at 246 vaccination centres, including 138 government centres and 108 private centres.

Meanwhile, Manipur reported four new cases of COVID-19 from the general population, when 948 persons were tested for COVID-19 at four testing facilities in the past 24 hours, a press release stated.
