35 shops washed away at Hahim

By A Correspondent

BOKO, Sept 26 - Thirty-five shops were washed away at Hahim Bazar under Boko circle in this season due to erosion of the Singra river.

Last year, Gizang and Singra rivers changed their coursres towards the Hahim river. That time, the same market was affected partially by erosion. However, in the last one year, the authorities have not repaired the portion, nor they have laid any type of porcupines or spars to stop erosion in this portion.

Only an NGO had repaired a portion of the landslide-prone area with sand bags, which protected the area till now. However, the Gizang river washed away the sand bags recently, and then 35 shops sunk in the Singra river.

Last one year, the people submitted many applications to the DC, but the administration didnt take any step to stop the erosion, president of Hahim Bazar Committee, Kanteswar Rabha told this correspondent. He also said, Actually, there is no administration in this area. The State Government has given all the facilities to the town and the citiesm only and today Hahim Bazar has suffered due to the river erosion.
