34 companies of security forces in Baksa

MUSHALPUR, April 10 - In total 34 companies of security forces, including Assam Police, CRPF, SSB and ITPB as well as 1,300 home guards, have been deployed in three Assembly constituencies of Baksa district for a peaceful and safe election.

Though there are 604 polling stations under 74 sectors in 18 zones for Tamulpur, Barama and Chapaguri LACs, the district police administration has 816 polling stations under its jurisdiction, including those in neighbouring districts.

A home guard, a policeman and four armed security persons will be deployed in each polling station, sources said. In total 650 presiding and 2,200 polling officials, including those in reserve, are deployed in the election process.

The police administration has identified six polling stations in Tamulpur, nine in Barama and 23 in Chapaguri as critical, while 21 in Tamulpur, 39 in Barama and 35 in Chapaguri as very sensitive polling stations.

Tamulpur has 89 sensitive and 122 comparatively safe polling stations, Barama has 70 sensitive and 78 comparatively safe polling stations and Chapaguri has 44 sensitive and 106 comparatively safe polling stations. In total 540 buses have been requisitioned by the administration for transportation of polling personnel.

There are seven all-women polling stations, 12 web casting centres and six model polling stations in the district.
