SIVASAGAR, July 27 - There has been an alarming rise in the COVID-19 positive cases in Sivasagar. On Sunday, 28 patients tested positive, and four of them were from Sivasagar and the rest from Amguri. With this, the number infected cases in Sivasagar district has gone up to 338 till Monday afternoon.
As many as 217 persons have been discharged so far and six were referred to AMC and JMC. Dr Udayaditya Rajkonwar, Senior Medical Officer of Sivasagar Health Department, said that three persons died from Japanese Encephalitis and three other died from AES, and no malarial death has been recorded so far in the district.
The Navodaya Vidyalaya in Doomor Dolong near Moranhat was converted into a COVID-19 hospital as per the instruction of Health Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma on July 20.
Revenue Circle Officer at Moran, Lambit Hazarika, said that another COVID-19 hospital is being set up in Khowang Higher Secondary, which will soon be operational.
