BAIHATA CHARIALI, May 22 - The Kamrup election district is all set for counting the votes for Gauhati Lok Sabha seat, which will begin at 8 am tomorrow. This was informed by Kamal Kumar Baishya, Returning Officer of Kamrup election district in a press meet held on May 21 evening at the conference hall of the Office of the DC, Kamrup, Amingaon.
The Returning Officer informed that already four rooms of the MACT court near the Deputy Commissioner�s Office have been readied for the counting of votes and the postal ballots from all the 10 LAC�s under Gauhati Lok Sabha seat will be counted here. This time, a total of 3031 postal ballots from different polling stations under 7 No. Gauhati Lok Sabha seat have been received by the district election authority.
The Returning Officer also informed that a total of 56 counting tables (14 per LAC) have been set up in the counting hall for the four LAC�s under Kamrup election district, viz., Boko, Palashbari, Chhaygaon and Hajo. There will be one counting supervisor, one counting assistant and one micro-observer for each counting table and every candidate can engage only one counting agent against each counting table. The counting of votes would be completed after 19 rounds of vote counting for Boko LAC, 16 rounds for Chhaygaon LAC, 15 rounds for Palashbari LAC and 16 rounds for Hajo LAC. After the complete counting of votes of 6 other LAC�s under Gauhati Lok Sabha constituency, the final result would be declared by the Returning Officer of the Kamrup election district.
