By Correspondent

MANGALDAI, Sept 19 Strong resentment has been expressed by the villagers and the family members of the Royal Darrangi Koch dynasty of Mangaldai over the looting of nearly 100 idols of Krishna, Ganesh, Durga and Vishnu from the temple at Gakhirkhowa Raja Howly near here. As reported, some of the idols made of gold, silver and other valuable metals, are nearly 300-years old.

It is suspected that an organised group of miscreants stole the idols and some valuable ornaments, donated by the devotees, by breaking open the door recently. The matter has been informed to the police who have launched an investigation.
