3 young Naga achievers honoured

DIMAPUR, Dec 9 � Olympian Chekrovol� Swuro, acclaimed local musician Nise Meruno and successful entrepreneur Atouzo Neihule were honoured with the Young Naga Achievers Award which carries a cash award of Rs 10 lakh each along with citation.

Governor Nikhil Kumar and Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio jointly gave away the awards at the inaugural function of the Hornbill Festival at Kisama Naga Heritage village recently.

Chekrovolu won 63 medals at the national level and 20 medals at the international arena. Her international victories include medals at the Asian, Commonwealth and World Cup championships. She represented India at the London 2012 Olympic Games becoming the first person from Nagaland to participate in the Olympic Games since attainment of Statehood. She is also the first recipient of the State�s highest award for sportspersons � Dr T Ao State Sports Award.

Atouzo Neihule is an inspiration for one and all. His is a story of starting from scratch and reaching the top through sheer hard work and dedication. He runs a successful beauty salon in Los Angeles, USA by the name of Neihule Salon. This institution had done styling for Oscars, the Emmys, American Idol, the Grammy�s and a host of other world famous events including some of the biggest names in show business. He even has his own successful line of beauty products. In the field of entrepreneurship, Atouzo Neihule is at the top of the game. He inspires every person with his own story of living the American dream.

Nise Meruno made it to the India Today top 30 young achievers of the country in 2011. It was the first time that a Naga made this list. He is also brand ambassador for international renowned music companies. He had performed at reputed shows and symphonies in several countries. In the field of music, he has been an ambassador not just for Nagaland but for the country at dozens of international events where his talents and capabilities have been recognised and well received. This year Nise- led Zowe Madrigal, the only neo-classical male chorus in the country, to Bangkok to perform for the World Music Day.
