3 trafficked women, minor girl rescued from UP

BISWANATH CHARIALI, Oct 5 - Gingia Police Station in Biswanath district recently received information that a married woman and her seven-year-old daughter of Kolbasti and two other married women of Samarbasti have been reported missing from their homes since August 24, 2020.

Police suspected that all four were kidnapped. Accordingly, a case was registered and investigation was launched. Based on intelligence and technical inputs, two persons � identified as Haripad Mandal (32), son of Nirat Mandal of Mowamari Chapori village, and Fakir Ali (30), son of Johur Ali of Bongalfuta Chapori village under Mangaldai Police Station � who were allegedly involved in the crime were arrested from Mangaldai PS area of Darrang district.

Based on their testimony coupled with technical evidence, it came to light that the four victims were staying in Nagla Masani locality under Delhi Gate PS of Aligarh district in Uttar Pradesh. It was found to be a case of human trafficking.

Sensing the gravity of the crime, a team of Biswanath police led by an inspector and women police constables were sent by flight and they reached Aligarh on September 30. With assistance of Aligarh police, all the four victims were rescued and brought back to Biswanath Chariali on Sunday. The statements of the victims were recorded in court on Monday.

It is notewothy that the Anti Human Trafficking Unit of Biswanath police has achieved notable success of late. On September 21, a team of Biswanath police rescued three women victims of human trafficking from Naharlagun in Papum Pare district of Araunachal Pradesh.

In 2019, Biswanath police had rescued two minor girls from Yomcha under West Siang district and from Taksing village, located just 3 km from the Indo-China border, under West Subansiri district in Arunachal Pradesh.
