3 suspended for attack on scribe

DHEMAJI, Oct 5 - Three employees of Sarva Siksha at Dhakuakhana, who were allegedly involved in the incident of attack on Amrit Paban Bora, a local journalist of an Assamese daily and secretary, Press Guild, Dhakuakhanana, have been suspended by the authority. They have been identified as Moon Sarma, Hemen Kalita and Mintu Phukan of the Dhakuakhana-based Sarva Siksha.

They were suspended on October 1 by Jiban Chandra Dutta, District Elementary Education Officer and District Mission Coordinator, Sarva Siksha, Lakhimpur, due to their absence from service for several days without any information to the authority.

The people of Dhakuakhana suspected that Moon Sarma, Hemen Kalita and Mintu Phukan were involved in the attack on journalist Amrit Paban Bora over a news item.

Meanwhile, on the demand of various organisations and the people of Dhakuakhana, Debashis Boishya, Sub-Divisional Officer (Civil), Dhakuakhana, has begun an inquiry into the alleged irregularities in the supply of school uniform at Dhakuakhana. In this connection, he also seized a number of documents from the office of Sarva Siksha of Dhakuakhana Education Block and sealed several almirahs.
