ITANAGAR, Nov 24 - In a road accident, three persons were killed and 10 others injured seriously when the passenger vehicle they were travelling in fell into a deep gorge near Yomcha in West Siang district of Arunachal Pradesh last night.

The Yomcha-bound Tata Sumo, carrying 13 passengers including the driver, met with the fatal accident at a place called Kalamati, in between Tabasora and Yomcha, when the driver apparently lost control of the vehicle and fell into a roadside gorge.

The situation could have gone worse had there been no timely interventions at all levels in terms of rescue operation.

Immediately after getting the information, Yomcha ADC Kego Jilen dashed to the spot along with his men, rescued eight injured passengers and rushed them to Aalo General Hospital within a short time and later, traced out the three other missing passengers and evacuated them too in his vehicle for treatment late at night.

Those who lost lives on the spot were identified as one Ms Gangkak and one Limbu, a bulldozer operator. The driver of the vehicle succumbed to his injuries later at the hospital taking the death toll to three.

Those who sustained injuries were Dego Ronya, his wife Depla Ronya Taipodia, her son Mardek Gangkak, Niter Yomcha, Yaluk Gadi, Marpe Potom, Abdul and Linluk Yomcha.

Meanwhile, the Galo Students Union (GSU) appreciated the Yomcha ADC for his prompt action in saving the lives.
