TEZPUR, Dec 11 Three prime accused in the Mothur Chandra Nath suicide case have been arrested by Tezpur police. They were produced at the Tezpur Court today. The three accused Pratul Bhagwati, Trailukya Mohan Kalita and Rituparna Bora were arrested from Beltola and Panjabari areas in Guwahati and Sootea Hajarimol in Sonitpur district respectively.

Mothur Chandra Nath, who committed suicide on November 26 at Majgaon Saikia Chuburi here, had written a 22-page suicide note which was recovered by the police near his body. Naths elder son, Prasanta Kumar Nath filed an FIR at the Tezpur Sadar Police Station on November 30 (Case No. 1651/12 U/S 306/506/34 IPC). In the FIR, he mentioned that his father committed suicide under the pressure of certain individuals including the former OSD of the Irrigation Department and present MLA of Sonai LAC, Enamul Haque Laskar.

Police sources said that Nath had collected about Rs 12 lakh from four persons and handed over to people close to Haque. The four persons, too, offered the amount expecting lucrative contracts from Laskar in future. But even after a long time, they did not bag any contracts and asked Nath to return their money. Helpless, Nath later took the extreme step.

Tezpur police today arrested the trio on the basis of Naths suicide note. Another prime accused, Dhiren Deka of Chandmari, Guwahati, whose name was also mentioned the suicide note, has been absconding till the filing of this report.
