3-day art exhibition on Ambubachi begins

GUWAHATI, June 23 - An art exhibition on the theme of the Kamakhya temple during the auspicious occasion of Ambubachi Mela was inaugurated today by Jayanta Malla Baruah, Chairman of the Assam Tourism Development Corporation Limited (ATDCL) at the ITA Machkhowa here, said a press release.

The first of its kind art exhibition, titled �Drops of Divinity�, features 51 works of paintings and sculptures by 30 local artists on the theme of the Kamakhya temple.

The exhibition, organised by Hastakshar and supported by ATDCL, will depict devotion for Goddess Kamakhya during Ambubachi in the form of intriguing visual art.

The 3-day exhibition will feature works of veteran as well as emerging artists of the region.

�This is the first time that an art exhibition is being organised on the occasion of Ambubachi. It can be a rare and exciting opportunity for the visitors to trigger their experience of the festival through the paintings. We are thrilled to organise such an event and delighted that the people will be able to travel through the artist�s imagination of the Goddess� said Bidisha Das of Hastakshar Arts & Crafts.

The art works will be exhibited till the evening hours of June 25 at the art gallery of ITA Machkhowa.
