3 Bangla miscreants held for Karimganj border violence

BADARPUR, March 3 - Three Bangladeshi miscreants who were involved in Wednesday�s border incident at Jarapata village in Karimganj district were apprehended by the Border Guides of Bangladesh (BGB) and Bangladesh Police and were later handed over to the Border Security Force (BSF).

The trio was identified as Numan Uddin Aajmal, Jabir Ahmed, and Sahab Uddin. A BSF spokesman said that interrogation is on and the other miscreants will also be arrested soon as assured by BGB. Meanwhile, though a tense situating is prevailing, but the situation is under control in the border area, sources said.

It may be mentioned that Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal has expressed deep concern and condemned the incident. He has also instructed the Karimganj Deputy Commissioner PK Talukder, SP PR Kar, DIG-(Southern Range) Silchar, Akhilesh Singh and senior BSF officials to take immediate steps. As per the order of Chief Minister, a nodal officers meeting between BSF and BGB officials was held on Wednesday. The BSF officials also handed over a list of miscreants to the Bangladesh authority.

Talking to ANN Service, Karimganj Deputy Commissioner Pradeep Kumar Talukdar said that necessary arrangements have been taken for protecting the life and security of the border people living in no man�s land areas. Further, the district administration is keeping a close watch on the situation to avoid any untoward incident in the district.

Meanwhile, the VHP and several other Hindu organisations observed a protest rally in Karimganj on Thursday and submitted a memorandum to Karimganj DC. The Director General of Police Mukesh Sahay and the Director General of Police (Border) RM Singh is likely to visit Karimganj on March 7 to supervise the situation.
