ITANAGAR, March 12 Acting swiftly on alleged swindling of land transport subsidy (LTS) worth Rs 26 crore, the Arunachal Government has suspended the Director of Food and Civil Supplies department, CN Longphai, Joint Director J Koyu and Finance & Accounts Officer K Panor.

The Rs 26 crore fraud was detected when one T Koyu filed an FIR on February 17 last in which he alleged that some unknown persons forged and cheated him of few crores of rupees, which was released as LTS by the Department of Food and Civil Supplies. The money, designated as LTS (kerosene) for at least four firms, was illegally withdrawn through a fake power of attorney.

The three officers, suspended in connection with fraudulent withdrawal of LTS bill, have been directed not to leave the State capital without prior permission from the competent authority.

Penalty imposed on PIO: The Arunachal Pradesh State Information Commission (APIC) under the single bench of Information Commissioner Abraham K Techi has imposed a penalty of Rs 25,000 on PIO/Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) of Sagalee, J Pertin, for deliberately defying Commissions orders in connection with case No. APIC-21/Gen.Corr/2013-14 and also for violation of section 7 of RTI Act, 2005.

In an official statement, the Commission directed the PIO to deposit the said amount in account number 0070 AG Itanagar within 10 days failing which it warned of taking necessary action against him under the RTI Act, 2005.
