By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, Nov 5 - PWD Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma today witnessed the launch of the second pier foundation of the seventh bridge across the Brahmaputra river in the city.

The 8.3-km bridge will connect Guwahati and North Guwahati. It is being built at a cost of Rs 2,600 crore and we hope to complete it by August 2023, Sarma said.

He said the bridge will be vital for the Northeast as it will boost economic growth of Assam and the adjoining states.

It will reduce travel time from Guwahati to North Guwahati to just 10 minutes, as against 45-60 minutes that it takes to travel now. With the AIIMs coming up and also a new medical college in the city, you can imagine the developments that will take place in the next five years, he said.
