GUWAHATI, March 26 � In the period from January 1, 2001 to December 31, 2011, a total of 28,483 persons have been declared as illegal foreigners from Bangladesh through the judicial process, of which 288 have been deported.
Of the declared foreigners, 16,019 are absconding, while 353 have registered themselves with the FRRO office.
Revealing this in the Assembly today in reply to a starred question from Phani Bhushan Choudhury (AGP), Forest Minister Rockybul Hussain said that the three detention camps in the State at present had 94 foreigners, the break-up being 59 at Goalpara, 32 at Kokrajhar, and 3 at Silchar.
