25 students test COVID-19 positive in Udalguri

UDALGURI, Sept 30 - The overall COVID-19 infection tally in Udalguri district has taken a serious turn as 25 students from various schools have tested positive after conducting Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) on Wednesday. The district administration has been carrying out RAT in various educational intuitions.

Disclosing this to the correspondent, Inspector of Schools, Bhaben Deuri informed that the move was initiated in order to check the spread of novel coronavirus. He, however, said that more results are awaited that might the increase the figure. �We have asked the schools to adhere to the rules set by the State government,� he said. Meanwhile, Conscious Citizens� Forum of Udalguri have expressed serious concern over rising cases of COVID-19 positive cases in the district and appealed to the administration to suspend classes as part of precautionary measures.

President of the forum, Sarat Basumatary suggested that considering the gravity of the situation, the Education department should suspend all classes and focus on COVID-19 tests. � The students should be protected at any cost,� he claimed.
