23 wickets fall on day one

GUWAHATI, March 1 � On the opening day of two-day super league match of Plate Group Senior Inter District Cricket Tournament for Nuruddin Trophy between Karimganj and Tezpur at the Nehru Stadium here, altogether 23 wickets fell today.

Opting to bat first, Karimganj were all out for 98 and took a thin size first innings lead as Tezpur managed to score only 92.

But in the second knock, Karimganj steadied their innings and at stumps were 84 for three.

It seemed to be a spinner friendly track in the morning session as Tezpur�s slow bowlers grabbed all the Karimganj batsmen. Roshan Basfor was the chief wicket taker with five scalps while Diptesh Saha took three.

Only three Karimganj batsmen, Subodh Rathi (21), Arindom Chakraborty (21) and Abduz Salam (17) could reach double figures.

But, Karimganj medium pacer Amitav Das sent a devastating spell and shattered six rival wickets sparing 31 runs.

In their second innings, Karimganj opener Srideb Biswas remained unbeaten with 58. Rajib Chakraborty is giving him accompany with 22.
