200-bed hospital to open at Udalguri today

UDALGURI, Feb 13 � The much-awaited 200-bed Udalguri civil hospital is going to be operational from tomorrow here at Barnagaon village. This was informed by State PHE Minister and Udalguri MLA Rihon Daimari.

Daimari informed that the dream of thousands of people of Udalguri district would be dulfilled with the grand opening of the civil hospital at Barnagaon at the outskirts of Udalguri town.

�This is indeed a great achievement of the people of Udalguri district and from now on, the poor people of the district will be able to avail themselves of better treatment facilities in their hometown,� the minister said. He appealed to all concerned to cooperate with the new staff of the new hospital and encourage them to serve the poor with utmost sincerity.

Meanwhile, Chanda Singh, district media expert of NRHM, Udalguri, informed that the Minister for Family Welfare Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma, BTC chief Hagrama Mohilary, and BTC executive member for health and family welfare Emmanuel Mochahari will attend the opening ceremony. The hospital will be inaugurated by Hagrama Mohilary.

It may be noted that a well-equipped civil hospital has been a long-standing demand of the people of Udalguri covering all the villages and Indo-Bhutan and Arunachal Pradesh border areas to the north of the district. The new hospital will be equipped with all modern facilities of medical treatment, including blood bank, post-mortem facility and doctors having specialization in specific fields.
