GUWAHATI, Feb 13: Two workers were killed and seven others sustained injuries on Saturday after they got trapped during the process of earth cutting at a railway construction site between Panbari and Thakurkuchi stations in the Guwahati-Lumding section.
“During construction of a road under bridge that will replace an existing level crossing gate, earth fell down over some workers who were at the site,” a statement from the NF Railway said.
The incident occurred around 1.30 pm when concrete slabs were being placed after earth cutting by the workers. Altogether nine persons got trapped in the incident and seven of them could be rescued.
