2 students bring glory to Barpeta

BARPETA, May 28 � Barpeta stood second in terms of the pass percentage in the HSLC examination, 2014, conducted by the SEBA. Two students made the district proud by occupying the 8th and 10th positions. Kashyap Das, a student of Sankardev Sishu Vidya Niketan, occupied the 8th position by securing 573 marks with letters in all the subjects, while Hrishikesh Kalita, a student of Bajali Higher Secondary School, secured the 10th position with 571 marks and letters in all the subjects. Both the students secured 100 marks in General Mathematics.

A total of 20,868 students appeared in the HSLC examination from Barpeta district, out of which 15,948 came out successful. The pass percentage of 76.42 is second in the State after Dhemaji. While 2,912 students secured the first division, 6,432 secured the second division and 6,604 passed in the third division. The pass percentage shows a slight decline compared to last year when it was 79.86.
