2 hurt in Manipur blast

IMPHAL, June 14 � At least two persons sustained injuries when suspected militants exploded a powerful bomb suspected to be an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) on Saturday. The incident took place near a laundry at Moirangkhong, about one km south of Imphal West district police headquarter around 12.50 pm today.

The impact of the blast damaged windowpanes of an Alto Maruti car parked near the explosion site besides shattering window panes of nearby buildings. The laundry owner one Bijay Rajat, who hails from Bihar, escaped unhurt. He was reportedly taking rest inside the laundry when the explosion took place.

The two injured persons have been identified as one Bachaspatimayum Govind and Phurailatpam Ibomcha. They have been sent to nearby hospitals for treatment. A police team led by SP rushed to the site to take stock of the situation.
