By Correspondent

HAILAKANDI, July 13 The Army arrested two persons from Matijuri village near Hailakandi town for having in their possession a detonator, gelatin sticks and other explosive materials in their house.

The arrested persons have been identified as Nurul Huda Laskar, 48, and Nur Ahmed Laskar, 40. Nurul is an employee of Public Health Engineering Department while Nur is the teacher of a local school. The Army handed them over to police along with the seized materials. Further investigation is on.

The accused, however, have pleaded innocence about the possession of explosive materials, which were found in a secret spot in their house. They alleged before the police that Nurs wife Najma Begum and her brother Mashuk Ahmed hatched the entire conspiracy to harass them. Najma is not living with Nur from the last few years and both of them are contemplating to file divorce papers in the court.

A large number of villagers of the locality meanwhile protested their arrest and said they are innocent and are merely victims of a conspiracy.

There has been no trace of Najma and Mashuk since the incident.
