2 girls rescued from traffickers in Delhi

NEW DELHI, Jan 30 � Delhi Police has busted a human trafficking racket involved in procuring girls from Assam, arresting one trafficker even as two others managed to escape.

According to police sources, a trafficker along with a local youth, lured two girls, aged 18 and 20 years, of Kokrajhar by promising them lucrative jobs in the National Capital. On reaching Delhi, the traffickers struck a deal with another person from UP and sold them to for Rs 50,000 each.

On Thursday evening, the trafficker along with two of his accomplices and the girls were waiting at Ashram Chowk area of South Delhi, when on suspicion, a police patrolling team questioned them. The traffickers panicked and fled from the scene. The police team managed to detain one of the culprits, who hails from Uttar Pradesh and the two girls have been sent to Nari Niketan, a shelter home.
