DHEMAJI, June 30 � A tense situation has been prevailing at Dhemaji following the killing of two local men engaged as carpenters at Jullibasti of Naharlagun in Arunachal Pradesh.
As per reports available here, the two persons were hacked to death by a co-worker on July 22.
According to sources , two poor labourers living at Kaupatani Majbari Gaon under Gogamukh Police Station, namely Kharge Basumatary (32) and Baliram Basumatary (50) were taken to Jullibasti by one Harka Bahadur Chetry of Lakhimpur Harmoti for engaging them as carpenters about two months back.
On the night of June 23 last, Harka Bahadur telephonically informed the families of Kharge and Baliram that the duo had been done to death at their work site by a co-worker named Birju Jumir.
It is alleged that Harka managed to get the post mortem of the bodies done at a Naharlagun-based hospital sans the presence of any relative of the deceased. Thereafter, he sent the two bodies to their respective homes at Kaupatani Majbari Gaon at Gogamukh on July 24. Harka is reported to have lodged an FIR at Naharlagun Police Station in this connection and following the case, Itanagar police arrested the culprit.
In the meantime, the Gogamukh the anchalik unit of All Boro Students� Union (ABSU) has urged the Arunachal Police to conduct an inquiry into the case and arrest all those who are involved in the brutal killing.
It may be pertinent to add here that Kharge Basumatary leaves behind his wife, two sons and a daughter, while Baliram Basumatary leaves behind his wife, five daughters and two sons.
