2 BSF jawans hurt in Manipur blast

IMPHAL, Dec 9 � Two Border Security Force (BSF) personnel were injured in a bomb attack at Koubru Laikha area under Saparmeina Police station, about 25 km north of here in Senapati district today.

The incident took place when an improvised explosive device (IED) said to be fitted on a Maruti Van parked on the roadside exploded when a convoy of 13 battalion BSF was passing through the area around 12.30 pm today, sources said.

The injured BSF jawans identified as Abdul Rajak and Anand Raj have been shifted to the BSF hospital at Koirengei near here for treatment.

Additional security forces rushed to the site and conducted search operations. But there is no report of any arrest.

Meanwhile, security has been beefed up in the State capital as AICC General Secretary Rahul Gandhi is scheduled to arrive here at 11 am tomorrow. He will address a public rally besides inaugurating a State level convention on elected members of the local bodies.
