IMPHAL, Jan 1 - The first day of the New Year 2014 began with two bomb explosions in Imphal. However, no casualty was reported. The two bombs suspected to be planted by the armed groups operating in the State, exploded at Singjamei area under Imphal West district in the wee hours today morning.The another explosion took place near the Manipur College campus, reports said.
Both the bomb explosions occurred on the banks of Nambul and Imphal rivers.
No armed group operating in the region claimed responsibility for the incidents.
As many as 74 bomb blasts were reported in 2013 and 24 people were killed and around 100 were injured in the blasts.
