TURA, Nov 25 - Two labourers whose kidnapping led to a huge protest yesterday in Kharkutta village were released in the early morning today near the village from where they were kidnapped in North Garo Hills.
According to police, the duo were released at 4 am today after being kidnapped on November 17 by suspected members of Achik National Liberation Army (ANLA) along with cadres of Achik Matgrik Elite Force (AMEF). They were kidnapped from of Silki village under Kharkutta.
The two kidnapped construction labourers have been identified as Soleman Ali (42) and Sahauddin Sheikh. A rally was taken out here demanding the immediate release of the duo. Meanwhile, sources stated that an amount of Rs 2 lakh was given as ransom for the release of the two.
