18 vehicles seized at Bajali subdivision

PATACHARKUCHI, March 10 - As many as eighteen vehicles were seized by a joint team of task force of Barpeta district from various parts of Bajali subdivision in a sudden raid conducted on Tuesday.

The task force has been formed recently by the Deputy Commissioner of Barpeta district with the directive of the Chief Secretary, Govt of Assam. The team led by Pulak Patgiri, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Barpeta district including the officers of Transport department, Excise and Sale Tax department and Forest department conducted the raid and found the vehicles illegal in terms of carrying forest materials or without having valid documents.

The vehicle included three dumpers, three JCBs, five tractors, three trucks and four tempos. The joint team along with Prerna Sarma, SDO, Civil Bajali, Arpana Natarajan, SDPO, Bajali, DFO Patir, Tax Superintendent and others took part in the drive, informed Gautam Das, DTO Barpeta. The team also visited the Pathsala Railway Station from where a large number of bamboo were being transported to other parts of the country.
