17th edition of Techniche from Sept 3

GUWAHATI, Aug 24 - The 17th edition of the annual techno-management festival of IIT Guwahati � Techniche will be held from September 3 to 6, with enthusiasts ready to pour in from different areas of the country to witness the celebration of technology.

Techniche encompasses events ranging from various facets like technology, management and fun.

Apart from organising techno-management events, team Techniche has contributed to the social development of the premises surrounding IIT Guwahati by organising a free health checkup, educating the children present in these areas and also by providing the people with basic life needs and resources.

This edition of Techniche would witness the presence of eminent personalities of various fields like Jean Baptiste Kempf (one of the lead developers of VLC media player), a flash lecture by Ronald Wayne (co-founder, Apple Inc.) as part of a lecture series. Chet Kamat (CEO, Oracle Financial Services) and Tapan Singhel (CEO, Bajaj Allianz group), will also be delivering lectures as part of industrial conclave.

Following the long tradition of Techniche, the seventh edition of the Guwahati Half Marathon will kick off in the city on August 30. Ever since its inception in 2009, the marathon has evolved coherently over the years to currently stand as the largest half marathon in the North-east.

The theme of this edition of marathon is �Unity Run for Peace�, which reflects the necessity of improving the standards of our future. The event starts with the professionals� marathon of 21 km in the morning at the Sonaram High School. This will be followed by the six-km run for the general public.

The event will be attended, among others, by Amit Kumar Saroha, an Arjuna award recipient in 2013 and also a para-athletics coach for the Haryana Sports Department.

The other activities of Techniche 2015 include Model United Nations (MUN); competitions stretching from Robotics to corporate module; workshops on latest technologies ranging from autonomous robotics to web development; Tech Expo: an opportunity for students from other institutes all over the country to showcase their innovations on a wider platform and also cultural nights and exhibitions.
