By Correspondent

DIPHU, April 20 - Karbi Students Association (Inglongpho faction) has objected to the claims of the Meghalaya Government over Karbi Anglongs land located within Block-I and II (Khanduli areas) in West Karbi Anglong district.

KSA president Bijoy Bey mentioned that infringement of land in 12 places alongside the border with Assam is an act of aggression on Assams soil exacting within Karbi Anglong Autonomous Councils jurisdiction. He stated that Meghalaya has by force captured 1,583.42 sq. kms in Block-I & II and 76.80 sq. kms totaling 1,660.22 sq km area of land till now.

The KSA president also said that a memorandum to remove Block-I and II and Khanduli areas of Karbi Anglong from the directory of disputed area was submitted to the Sarbananda Sonowal before 2016 and another reminder was submitted to Sonowal after becoming Chief Minister of the State through the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Councils Chief Executive Member Tuliram Ronghang, but both have failed to elicit any positive response till date.

After the theoretical sessions, practical demonstration of low-cost power fence, use of chilli smoke and chilli rope fence and use of chilli fire cracker is done to highlight their effectiveness in checking elephant depredation.
