155 people killed in floods this year

GUWAHATI, Dec 11 � In a written reply to a question by Abdur Rahim Khan (AIUDF), Revenue Minister Prithibi Majhi said in the State Assembly today that 155 people were killed in floods this year. He said that more than 29 lakh people of 27 districts of the State were affected by the fury of floods. He said that 1421 families of 16 districts were affected by erosion.

Tribal belts: The Revenue Minister, in reply to a question by Majendra Narzary (BPF), said that more than 53900 bighaa of land of tribal belts and blocks are under encroachment by non-protected classes of people. Ranjit Das (BJP) commented that the tribal belts and blocks are encroached upon by suspected foreigners, which was opposed by several members of the AIUDF.
