15,223 affected by flood in Sivasagar

JORHAT, Sept 2 - More than 15,223 people of 23 villages in Demow and Sivasagar revenue circle of Sivasagar district have been affected by the current wave of flood.

Data received from the District Disaster Management cell today stated that 12,000 people of 20 villages including Soraguri Chapori, Deughoria, Teliatunga, Garbhanga, Guskota, Borgaon, Rupohimukh Kumar Gaon, Chintamoni Garh and many others in Sivasagar Revenue Circle are affected by the flood water of Brahmaputra while 3,223 villagers of Vekuri Chapori, Miri Pathar and Lai Bill of Demow Revenue Circle have been suffering from this wave of flood.

Government data also revealed that 220 hectares of crop area are reeling under the flood in the district.

Officials said that two teams of medical and veterinary officials have been deployed in the Sivasagar Revenue Circle for the service of the flood affected people and one country boat have been used for transportation in Teliatunga area.
