GUWAHATI, Dec 28 � District administration has constituted 15 special squads to keep tab on the night revellers during New Year eve, each comprising of police and district administration officials, besides representatives of the Excise department.
Although the decision to form it was taken during the meeting held at the Deputy Commissioner�s office, the nitty-gritty of the components of the squad has been finalized.
�The squad will be accompanied by police, especially women police, to monitor the activities in pubs, discotheques and other party venues,� a senior district administration official told this reporter.
The official pointed out that a section of the police personnel will be in civil to keep a tab on any kind of illegal or immoral activities.
�As and when necessary, the squads would also make surprise visits in events and private premises,� he said, adding that the idea is to ensure that the advisory guidelines are followed.
Meanwhile, police sources stated that all the police stations have already been kept on alert and directed to activate sources to fetch inputs about any kind of illegal activities.
�The Deputy Superintendent of Police of all the four divisions of the City will lead the operation. Besides, in order control of the vehicular traffic, specific instructions have already been passed on,� the sources added.
