MIRJA, Oct 7 - Boko MLA Gopinath Das has been remanded to 14-day judicial custody by the CJM Court at Amingaon today in connection with a sexual harassment case lodged by his domestic help on September 6 last.

Talking to mediapersons, Das said that he is a victim of political conspiracy and would respond to this conspiracy at the 2016 Assembly elections.

Police sources told The Assam Tribune that Das had not gone outside Assam during the time of his absconding before his arrest. The Boko MLA was, instead, hiding in the riverine areas of Assam for around 28 days before he was arrested on October 4, the source added. The two-day police custody of Das has expired today.
