13 OIL-sponsored students clear IIT entrance

GUWAHATI, May 20 � As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility, Oil India Limited has been undertaking an educational initiative �Utkarsh Superb 30� to coach students with academic potential from economically disadvantaged families and prepare them to compete successfully in entrance examinations for IITs and other premier Engineering Institutions.

The coaching is currently undertaken in two centres, one at Guwahati and the other at Jorhat, with each centre having a strength of 30 students. A total number of 13 students of �Utkarsh Superb 30� programme sponsored by Oil India Limited have qualified this year for admission into different IITs in Joint Entrance Examination, 2012, results of which were declared on May 18, according to a press release issued by Tridip Duvarah, Manager (PR & Coordination) OIL.

The entire responsibility for managing the coaching centres was entrusted to an NGO � Centre for Social Responsibility & Leadership � under the academic guidance of Abhayanand, DGP, Bihar, a pioneer in this field of activity. The total expenditure related to the centres, including boarding and lodging of the students, is borne by OIL under its Corporate Social Responsibility.
