12 houses gutted in Arunachal fire

ITANAGAR, Dec 26 - Altogether 12 houses were gutted in a devastating fire at Yarkum Colony under Durpa Panchayat, Kimin in Papum Pare district of Arunachal Pradesh on December 24, according to official sources here.

The fire broke out at about 11.30 pm when all the dwellers were attending midnight service. Household properties including traditional ornaments worth lakhs of rupees were reportedly destroyed in the mishap. The cause of the blaze was yet to be ascertained. However, there was no report of any casualty.

Speaker and local MLA Nabam Rebia along with Papum Pare Deputy Commissioner Tai Kaye rushed to the spot to take stock of the situation.

Rebia provided Rs 20,000 each as immediate relief to all affected families. He also directed the district administration to provide relief to all the affected families and to make the loss assessment for onward submission to the government. � Correspondent
