10th spl session of Asam Sahitya Sabha begins today

RAHA, Jan 31 - The Jongal Balahu Samannya Khetra of Raha is now wearing a festive look as Asam Sahitya Sabha holds its 10th special annual session here from tomorrow.

A smitri tarpan programme was organized this morning at Ahatguri to pay tribute to Lakshminath Bezbaroa, great Assamese personality and pioneer of modern Assamese literature. The function was attended by Asam Sahitya Sabha president Dr Paramananda Rajbongshi along with other officials of the sabha. The ceremonial lamp was lighted by Rajbangshi, followed by rich floral tributes before the statue of the literary stalwarts of the Jonaki era.

The Me-Dam-Me-Phi function which began at 12 am was attended by vice president of the Sabha Dr Hemanta Kumar Barua and Dr Puspa Gogoi . The Namghar was formally inaugurated by Satradhikar Devananda Devgoswami. Dr Karuna Sagar Das ,NRA, inaugurated the main gate of the sabha special session. Similarly, the gate of the book fair was inaugurated by noted book publisher Giripad Devachoudhory. Nagaon MLA Rupak Sharma inaugurated the main pandal along with Raha MLA Dimbeswar Das. The trade fair was inaugurated by noted educationist Chao Lokeswar Gogoi.

Meanwhile , delegates and litterateurs from several districts of Assam have reached Jongal Balahu Samannya Khetra.

The first 10th special annual session of the Sabha will start tomorrow with hoisting of Asom Sahitya Sabha flag at 8.45 am, followed by smitri tarpan at 9 am and delegates meet at 10 am. The other programmes will continue as per the proceedings.
