108 Service took over 2mn calls since �08

GUWAHATI, Aug 7 - Of the total medical emergencies in the State, maternal complications have been the highest recorded emergencies by GVK EMRI services with a total of 10,20,374 cases from 2008 to July 31, 2016.

GVK Emergency Management and Research Institute (EMRI) has been operating the 108 Mrityunjoy Emergency service in Assam with 380 surface ambulances and five boat ambulances covering all the districts of the State.

Since November 2008, 108 Emergency Response Service (ERS) has handled over two million calls and served over 26,28,014 emergencies, saving 1,28,150 lives in the entire State.

Maternal emergency is followed by acute abdomen problems (4,38,615 cases), injuries caused by road accidents, (2,68,465 cases recorded so far), suicide attempts and cardiac cases accounting for 38,328 and 1,05,639 cases respectively, and respiratory problems with 82,548 cases. It has also assisted 28,745 deliveries till July 31 this year.

Moreover, the Adarani drop back service, that has continued in the State since January 30, 2012, has served 8, 92,808 beneficiaries so far, said a press statement. It is a service in which mother and the neonate would get drop back facility to their home after availing post-delivery hospital care at government hospitals.
