IMPHAL, April 11 - Around ten persons including policemen were injured in a confrontation between bandh supporters and opposers at Mayang Imphal area in Imphal West district around 10 am today, sources said. Around five houses were also reportedly damaged in the incident.
Sources said that the incident occurred when the bandh supporters enforced a 24-hour bandh on Mayai Lambi at Mayang Imphal Konchak Makha Leikai area and it was opposed by a group of people. Two policemen who intervened also sustained injury, they said.
The situation was brought under control after the arrival of additional forces from Imphal and subsequent imposition of prohibitory orders under Section 144 CrPC by the district administration.
The bandh was called from Sunday midnight in protest against the controversial death of two youths on April 6.
