10-day Dibrugarh Book Fair from November 20

DIBRUGARH, Nov 12 - Milan Jyoti Sangha here will hold the ninth Dibrugarh Book Fair in collaboration with the All Assam Publishers and Book Sellers� Association at Chowkidinghee ground from November 20 to 29.

The 10-day event will be inaugurated by eminent litterateur and former president of Asam Sahitya Sabha, Imran Shah, a release stated. Noted writer, educationist and former president of Asam Sahitya Sabha, Dr Nagen Saikia will attend the programme as a distinguished guest, while Dr Alak Kumar Buragohain, Vice-Chancellor of Dibrugarh University, will release the souvenir.

More than 70 leading publishers and book-sellers, including national and regional institutions, are expected to take part in the Fair, the organisers informed.

Other programmes during the 10-day event include interaction with noted literary figures, poem recitation and workshops, cultural performances, on-the-spot competition, prize money quiz competition and multiple book releases.

The ninth Dibrugarh Book Fair coincides with the golden jubilee year celebration of the host organisation Milan Jyoti Sangha. The first book fair was organised in 1994.
