The troops in combat dress along with officials arrived here by a special train around 11.15 am for deployment in election-related duties.
One Deputy Commandant of the State police has been deputed to look after the troops from Manipur. They have been sent to different locations to take guard at strong rooms and polling booths.
Another 25 companies of Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) are expected to arrive here tomorrow or day after.
According to the sources, around 20,000 security personnel including 35 companies of CAPF are supposed to be deployed in the State to ensure free, fair and peaceful Lok Sabha elections.
As per the Election Commission guidelines, the CAPF will be deployed in guarding poling booths and strong rooms while Tripura State Rifles and State police personnel will be engaged outside the polling stations.
